Heavy Equipment Operator

Summary:

The Truck Driver/Equipment Operator – West Midcon - reports to Construction Supervisor. The position provides support to the work team in defined duties working safely in pipeline repairs, replacements, and fabrications consistent with company policies, procedures, and government regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Safely operate a commercial truck to transport materials and equipment to various locations.

·         Move and tie-down of workpieces, as well as heavy equipment, to and from the work site.

·         Load and unload materials and equipment, ensuring proper handling and storage.

·         Operate hand and power tools as required.

·         Prepare materials and equipment for welding, ensuring the work area is clean and organized and ready for the welding / repair application.

·         Cleaning the work area after welding and removing excess metal or impurities from the construction site.

  • May participate in LOTO, gas handling, and PSSR for maintenance and construction projects.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and vehicle maintenance to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.  Adherence to public traffic laws and compliance with partnership safety policies and procedures

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Previous experience as a truck driver and laborer
  • Valid driver’s license with CDL credentials
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to discuss with team members and supervisor job status and any issues to address.

·         Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • Heavy Equipment Operator I requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator II requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
  • Sr. Heavy Equipment Operator requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Skills:

·         Familiar with the Federal Code of Regulations as it relates to Natural Gas Pipeline Construction and Operation.

·         Ability to work independently with guidance and as part of a team.

·         Ability to represent the Company in a professional manner with both private and public entities and officials.

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Work in both office and field working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting, driving, or standing.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Applicant may be required to climb ladders, walkways, or scaffolds.
  • Applicant may be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet and within below grade excavations.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel long distances.
  • Required to possess or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as, extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require location-specific personal protective equipment (PPE).
