SEC Energy is a single-source provider of natural gas compression equipment, parts and services to all segments of the oil & gas industry. From 50 to 10,000 horsepower, gas, electric or dual drive, SEC is capable of designing and fabricating equipment to meet each customer’s specific operating requirements. SEC also provides production, processing, and treating equipment, and an expansive network of warehouses that service locations across the United States. SEC capabilities expand beyond tradition manufacturing to further include turnkey engineering services, truck-based service technicians, manufacturer parts, and power generation equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Weld inspection: Perform comprehensive inspections of all critical welds on pressure vessels using phased array technology to detect defects at various angles and depths within the weld.
  • Data analysis: Interpret the ultrasonic signals generated by the phased array probe to identify and characterize defects, including their size, location, and orientation
  • Calibration and setup: Set up the phased array equipment, calibrating probes, and establishing proper inspection parameters based on the material, weld geometry, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Defect reporting: Accurately document detected flaws, including their location, size, and severity, and generating detailed inspection reports for quality control review.
  • Advanced techniques: Utilize advanced phased array techniques like sectorial scanning, full matrix capture, and time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) depending on the complexity of the inspection requirements.
  • Quality control: Ensure compliance with established acceptance criteria for defects as per relevant industry standards and client specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to inspection equipment, probe selection, or signal interpretation.
  • Training and certification: Maintain current certifications in phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) and staying updated on the latest inspection techniques and standards

Required education or minimum level:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Technical certifications including SNT-TC-1A Level 2 in UT (PAUT), MT, and PT

 

Experience:

  • Experience in pressure vessel and pipe assessments and be thoroughly knowledgeable in assessment methodologies such as ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2, ASME B31.3 and ASME Section V
  • Knowledgeable with Non-Destructive Examination methodologies such as UT/PAUT, MT, RT, and familiar with the limitations of such type examinations
  • Technical background in NDT methods and procedures with five years phased array experience
