PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for oversight of all Aloha Petroleum drivers at assigned locations with an emphasis on safety, service and efficiency. Supervises workloads, schedule, tasks and other driver related functions in a manner that is safe, environmentally responsible, efficient and cost effective. Evaluates employees passing probation. Effectively recommends discipline/discharge of employees. Screens driver applications, interviews qualified candidates and makes hiring recommendations; Coordinates, plans and conducts Fuel Delivery Driver training and evaluation programs. Provide support to the Transportation Manager and assist the Transportation Manager and Fleet Supervisor with tasks critical to the Transportation Department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES / FUNCTIONS:
• Consistently operate with a “Safety First” attitude ensuring all operations comply with facility, company, state and federal rules and regulations; demonstrate general familiarity with company operating guidelines, procedures and standards.
• Provide daily supervision of assigned Drivers and monitor- to ensure proper and consistent performance of duties statewide
• Control budgets as they relate to driver hours and vehicle repairs.
• Evaluate employee performance, including probationary period passage
• Enforce house rules and recommend appropriate discipline for violation
• Interview and make hiring recommendations
• Coordinate training programs in accordance with curriculum developed by Aloha Petroleum.
• Monitor certification renewals to ensure all Fuel Delivery Specialist are compliant (CDL, TWIC, medical, DIP, hazmat, Rapid Gate, etc.)
• Conduct safe driving, safe working methods and procedures training programs as required.
• Assist in selection and evaluation of new Drivers.
• Ensure that Driver records remain current and are updated in a timely manner.
• Utilize Samsara to trend driving statistics (sudden stops, speed, idle time, hard braking, over/under RPM, etc.)
• Conduct field investigations for all incidents and assist with Flash Reports as needed.
• Responsible for ensuring that Aloha Drivers complete pre-trip and post-trip reports on a daily basis. Identify maintenance items for repair and maintenance issues
• Communicate daily with Dispatchers (Hawaii and Pennsylvania) and Mechanics, regarding safe operation of transportation delivery vehicles.
• Track employee work hours .
• Approve and submit leave requests and consistently follow department Absenteeism Policy.
• Be present as needed at RCA and corrective action meetings.
• Coordinate management efforts with Logistics Supervisor and Transportation Manager, to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Assist with Site Inspections and generating site maps
• Assist with the Know Before You Go program
• Ensure that Logistics Supervisor is sufficiently trained to provide backup for this position.
• Plan and schedule work inclusive of routine maintenance and repair, under direction of Logistics Supervisor .
• Review on a daily basis all Driver shift reports against GPS consolidated trip report to ensure that loading, unloading, driving time, meals and breaks validate the actual work time and overtime submitted.
• Review performance data available in Samsara to identify any safety and/or performance issues requiring follow-up with Drivers.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Knowledge of:
• Safe driving practices and methods.
• Load Rack procedures including emergency procedures
• Thorough knowledge of fuel truck (PTO, hoses, engine, compartments, etc.)
• Applicable laws to the operation of Fuel Truck
• Technical aspects of field of specialty
• Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities
• Interpersonal skills
• Principles and practices of supervision and training
• Microsoft office programs
• Inform, Samsara and all software applicable to the Transportation Department


Ability to:
• Conduct and coordinate Fuel Delivery training and safety programs
• Conduct investigation of incidents
• Maintain accurate records • Understand and follow written and oral directions
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with others
• Observe legal and defensive driving practices
• Attend meetings and remain current concerning rules, regulations, policies and laws
• Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures
• Maintain routine records
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing


Education and Experience:
• Associates Degree,- preferred
• High school diploma or GED Certificate and eight+ years’ experience operating a Fuel Delivery Truck or similar.
License and other requirements:
• Valid Hawaii Commercial Driver’s License and endorsements
• Ability to secure TWIC and Rapid Gate identification cards within 60 days upon hire date
• Complete required training (Hazmat, DIP, etc.)


WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Flexible start times (may vary with Driver shifts)
• 60% field (ride along, check rides, field investigations)
• 40% office (assist Fleet Supervisor as needed)
• Travel less than 25% of the time
• 9/80 work schedule

• Ability to multi-task and function effectively under pressure and time constraints.
• Ability to act professionally at all times.
• Ability to adapt interpersonal skills to interact positively and professionally with internal affiliates and outside contractors at all times.
• Occasional travel by aircraft and motor vehicles to other company locations.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
• Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis. • Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:
• Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills; interacts positively with all levels of employees, customers, vendors and other third parties; at all times demonstrates a professional and courteous demeanor that represents the company’s image with the highest standards of customer service and job performance.
• Able to make use of email, telephone, two way radio, fax machine, verbal conversation, and handwritten documentation to effectively receive and transmit information in the execution of required job functions.
