 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

  • Assists Technicians and other Maintenance personnel as required throughout all areas of the Montello District. Assists in training other personnel in Station/Terminal operations.
  • Must maintain a thorough knowledge of current operating procedures and be familiar with basic hand tools and be able to operate all product testing equipment necessary to obtain accurate results.
  • Must be dependable, and able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must write legibly and neatly. Must be able to communicate clearly and work well with others.
  • Must be able to perform accurate calculations with use of a calculator. Must be able to learn to operate personal computers and communications equipment and adhere to trouble reporting requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping during shift.
  • Must have valid driver’s license for the state of residence
  • Must be able to identify gravity, color and free-standing water in crude and product sampling process.
  • Must demonstrate safe work practices and help to maintain safe and healthful working conditions by exercising sound judgement, and to comply with safety regulations and standards.  Must demonstrate safe work practices.
  • Uses and operates all pertinent safety equipment when performing duties in potentially hazardous areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.).
  • Assigned to a 12-hour shift.  Subject to shift hold over or shift reassignment.  When on a shift rotation, follows a Primary relief schedule during off hours and is subject to call out at all hours. May be assigned to abnormal shift hours based on the business needs
  • Must be capable of learning and assuming the Second Operator position within one year.  Must assume the Second Operator responsibilities during both planned and unplanned absences.  Must also qualify as a Lead Operator within three years of qualifying as a 2nd operator.
  • Must be able to climb tanks.
  • Must be able to work out of doors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor in a safe manner.

Special Considerations: 

  • Must reside within 45 miles of reporting location. The described job duties are a framework in which work will be assigned. This description is not inclusive of all responsibilities or job assignments. This position will require extended off-hour duties at times.

 

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
 Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Driving, walking, and standing frequently
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
