The Communication Technician supports the communication performance and installation of his/her designated area of responsibility. Core value of position is to be able to possess good communication skills to all the Energy Transfer Gas Control Departments, be self- motivated.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

  • Maintain and operate facilities in compliance with applicable specifications, codes, safety standards and operating procedures

  • Performs tests and document results to comply with Federal regulations

  • Coordinates tower maintenance and any data communications work performed by outside contractors

  • Troubleshoot, install and maintain all telecommunications related equipment

  • Perform maintenance and problem identification on microwave, data acquisition, mobile radios, VSAT, telephone systems, analog and digital SCADA systems

  • Assist in the installation of measurement and control facilities

  • Working knowledge of applicable FCC, NEC requirements and procedures

  • Knowledge of electronic/ electrical equipment as they relate to measurement and communication facilities.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with customer base

  • Subject to 24 hour call out 7 days per week and possible extended workdays


Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:


Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience


Level B requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience


Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience


Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally 
  • Driving, walking, and standing frequently
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
