Energy Transfer is a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. In total, the Company owns and operates approximately 84,000 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.


The electrical technician helps create, maintain and repair the electronic components and equipment used in any equipment or device that involves electricity.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual most be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily.  The essential job duties for this position are listed below:  

  • The Electrical Technician must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment or independently as the workload requires.
  • The technician is responsible for a variety of work assignments that involve PLC programming, understanding ladder logic, configuration and troubleshooting as well as the troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing and inspection of low and medium voltage electrical equipment, instrumentation and controls for all areas of the district.
  • Reads and understands P&ID drawings, schematics and technical manuals
  • The nature of the job requires the technician to work with minimal supervision and possess mechanical aptitude.
  • The technician must respond to call outs, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime and at times perform additional duties due to operational upsets, construction projects, emergencies and other unusual situations.
  • The technician is expected to exhibit professionalism and perform all duties in a safe and proficient manner consistent with ET policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of critical parts and components.
  • Prepares and maintains maintenance and operating procedures, operations and regulatory reports and rerecord keeping requirements.
  • Assists in operation duties and other maintenance activities as needed.


Required education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Level B requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Level a requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience


Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Driving, walking, standing frequently
  • Must have the ability to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads.
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment and tools. Climbs and works at various heights and may work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required

  • May be subject to overtime, required to carry a cell phone, and subject to 24/7 call out.

  • Required to work in an on-call rotation with other Team members 

  • May be subject to overtime, required to carry a cell phone, and subject to 24/7 call out
