This position captures, measures, and reports physical and financial trading activity on a daily basis to Management in order to assess financial risk and commodity price exposure.  Performs financial analysis for Trading and Marketing organizations across commodities.  Ensures compliance with external regulations (CFTC, FERC, etc.), as well as internal trading policies.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
**Lists duties and responsibilities in rank of importance or time spent doing each job duty. Must constitute at least 5% of an incumbent’s time.

  • Calculate and report daily profit/loss for power trading desk

  • Calculate price exposures on a diverse portfolio of physical and financial instruments

  • Maintain compliance with all external regulations and exchanges as well as internal controls and policies 

  • Support front office by maintaining and helping to resolve any issues with deal capture system

  • Drive configuration of new ETRM system

  • Assist Accounting with settlement of derivatives

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Math or related degree or equivalent work experience

  • 8+ years of related experience

  • Strong financial modeling experience is essential

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) is required 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of energy trading in physical and financial markets
  • Experience with ETRM system(s)
  • Experience with B.I. reporting tools
  • Experience with exchange traded commodities (NYMEX, ICE, etc.)
 

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions. 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing. 

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required. 

  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
