Summary: 

Predominantly drives a heavy truck with a capacity greater than 26,000 GVW, hauling heavy equipment related to pipeline construction. The position requires consistent incorporation of the company’s safety initiatives into daily tasks. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

  •      Safely secure, load/unload, and transport pipeline construction equipment
  •      Maintain tractor/trailer in accordance with all D.O.T. Regulations
  •      Acquire State and Parish/County permits
  •      Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel for vehicle prior to operation.
  •      Perform daily electronic pre/post trip equipment inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.
  •      Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of various types of heavy equipment.
  •      Ability to calculate weights of equipment with truck/trailer combo to stay within DOT permitting restrictions and guidelines.
  •      Drive truck equipped with different trailer combinations
  •      Perform basic pipeline construction task
  •      Represent Energy Transfer with professionalism
  •      Provide high level of service to customers
  •      Adhere to all company safety rules, policies, and procedures
Required Education:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
  • Level C requires a minimum of 0 – 2 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience
  • Level B requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience
  • Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience

Required Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Class A CDL
  • Must pass a current DOT physical
  • Must possess and maintain a D.O.T. Medical Certificate and meet FMCSA Medical Standards
  • Must be able and willing to obtain TWIC card (depending on location)
  • Minimum of two-years verifiable oversize/overweight truck driving experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to learn and perform operation and maintenance tasks associated with various types of facilities and equipment
  • Proficiency with computers including MS Office applications such as Excel and Outlook as well as other computer based work training, time reporting, expense reporting, and on-line work applications and documentation
  • Experience operating heavy equipment related to pipeline operations
Working Conditions and Requirements:
 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

1.     Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions

2.    Work in and around industrial and construction settings, which may include hazardous products, processes, materials and chemicals,     as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment

3.     Frequent heavy lifting with and without assistance

4.     Work on and around equipment and facilities that require knowledge of and adherence to safe work procedures and practices  

5.     Subject to call-outs to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays

6.     Reliable attendance at work

7.     Overnight travel will be required up to 75% of the time

8.     Required to possess or be able to obtain CDL

9.     Required to possess or be able to obtain TWIC card

10.    Will be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet and within below grade excavations.
