Sr. Specialist supporting the Butane Blending business unit. Develop and support applications that help this dynamic and growing business section in support of the general partnership. 

 

 

This position will coordinate with customers and managers to understand business requirements and develop application solutions aligned with those requirements. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Provide day-to-day support of Butane Blending Applications software in a highly collaborative team environment.  Responsibilities include:
    • New systems development
    • Interfaces between in-house and 3rd party systems
    • Bug fixes and enhancement requests
    • Translating older technology to new systems 
  • The applications may be either Windows or Web based or a mixture of both, but focus on Microsoft Technologies like .NET Framework, and T-SQL.
  • Mobile application development a plus
  • Provide secondary support for Butane Blending Applications software as well as 3rd party software.
  • Work directly with users to discover and understand their needs and with IT personnel to translate those needs into effective system solutions.
  • Develop reports that transform data into business intelligence.
  • Stay abreast of related technology and recommend future system enhancements, software purchases or system upgrades.
  • Provide technical input to assist in development of project plans through detailed work breakdown structures and timeline estimations 
  • Effectively applying standard methodology and enforcing programming standards
  • Providing timely production support to requests reported by the customers
  • Ensuring production support issues receive proper level of attention and communication
  • Minimizing exposure and risk to loss of data integrity
  • Sharing knowledge with other team members assisting in their growth and development
  • Providing higher levels of testing to changes prior to submitting to the customer
  • Ensuring customer change requests are completed in a timely manner
  • Providing timely updates of existing workload for communication to manager and customer
  • Maintaining adherence to all SOX procedures and mandated regulations
  • Actively participating in team and customer meetings

  

  

   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT business related field or additional equivalent experience.
  • 5 - 8 years related work experience with a record of increasing responsibilities.

  • Development experience with the following:

    • Strong object oriented design

    • Microsoft Visual Studio (2010+) [Team Foundation Server experience a plus]

    • .NET Framework 3.0+ including experience with the EntityFramework 6.0

    • ASP.NET MVC [C#] including IIS7+

    • VB.NET [for legacy applications]

    • Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SQL 2012 and higher)

    • Microsoft T-SQL [Oracle PL-SQL a plus]

    • HTML, JavaScript including jQuery 

    • SQL Server Reporting Services [SSRS]

    • Web Services supporting JSON and oData

    • Experience with responsive development with frameworks such as BootStrap
    • Experience with mobile development frameworks such as Xamarin or Telerik

  • Significant knowledge of client server and internet systems architectures

  • Knowledge in various design methodologies and object oriented environments

  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex database concepts and design implications

  • Understands browser specific compatibility issues

  • Creates well designed, reusable code

  • Strong interpersonal and team skills including the ability to positively interface with vendors and contractors, IT, user management, and peers.

  • Able to gather and document detailed requirements through customer interviews and systems analysis to qualify and quantify purchased applications or new development projects.

  • Good organization skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently while achieving deadlines and effectively communicating project status.

  • Be a proactive, solution-oriented self-starter with the ability to quickly assemble the big picture.

  • Possess a strong sense of urgency.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including strong technical communications skills to effectively interface with both business and IT Personnel.  Must be able to translate technical solutions into business solutions.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills including crisis management and resolution.

  • Prefer refined products and butane blending industry knowledge and experience, especially with Document Management and Operations applications

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

* Usually, normal office working conditions.

* Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

* Occasional overnight travel may be required.

* Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
