Energy Transfer is one of the largest and most diversified midstream energy companies in the country which owns and operates approximately 86,000 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.
This position will provide oversight on day to day terminal operations helping ensure a successful safety and environmental record is maintained. This position will oversee the safety work permit process as well as other Energy Transfer policies and procedures.
- Will assist management with the implementation of the Operations Permit Policy and Procedures.
- Will be responsible for training Operations personnel on Energy Transfer’s permitting policies, ensuring permits are properly written and issued within the terminal.
- Assists during job plan meetings to ensure all hazards and job requirements are identified.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe & reliable operation of the facility for the (internal and external) workforce by conducting drills and coordinating training efforts.
- Participate in daily operations progress meetings including scheduling and shift change.
- Assists with emergency response, as well as, compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (DOT, MTSA, USCG, FRA, and OSHA), industry standards, and internal standards.
- Act as one of the Alternate Facility Security Officers (FSO)
- Available 24/7 for emergency response and operational needs.
- Assist with incident investigations and input of those incidents into IMS.
- Will assist management with auditing of active work permits to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures, including issues related to Lock-out-tag-out, confined space and hot work.
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- This position requires a minimum of 6+ years direct experience within the oil terminal industry overseeing and permitting construction jobsites, which include experience with hot taps, pipeline tie-ins, confined space entry, safety plan reviews, hot work permits and LOTO.
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Solid computer skills utilizing MS Office Suites including other applications (MS Excel, required. SAP, a plus).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written).and interpersonal skills to interface effectively with Engineering, Business Development, and other Terminal Ops support staff.
- Demonstrated ability to independently establish priorities.
- Must be detailed oriented and possess exceptional leadership skills, a strong customer focus, and team-oriented.
- Must be extremely flexible and able to adapt quickly to changes resulting from an ever changing logistical environment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and safety training skills.
- Must have or the ability to obtain TWIC credentials.
- Knowledge of API 653 Standards.
- Knowledge/experience with OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of marine, truck transport, rail and pipeline transportation.
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols and ICS.

- Will work 90% of the time outdoors within the Terminal, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
- May require the use of respirators and/or SCBA.
