Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position is listed below:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • 3- 7 years of experience as counsel (law firm experience in the energy pipeline commercial transactions practice area is ideal) in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commercial transactions background with pipeline industry experience preferred
  • Some state regulatory (e.g. Texas and LA regulatory agencies applicable to intrastate pipelines, gathering and processing) and FERC-regulated pipeline experience is helpful (e.g. FERC Section 311(a)(2) regulations applicable to intrastate transmission pipelines)
  • Strong writing skills
  • Joint Venture experience helpful
  • In-house experience helpful
  • Strong academic credentials and previous training in respected law firm or corporate legal department required
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, and able to work as a member of a busy team
 

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
