Summary:

This operational accounting role is responsible for monthly settlement of physical gas purchases, sales, and transportation for our Intrastate pipelines and Marketing organizations.  This position will be heavily involved with the team’s monthly close process and will have various account reconciliations to review / complete each month.  This position will be responsible for invoicing, ensuring payments are made timely, and following up on aged A/R accounts.  The position will need to be filled with a flexible individual who can work independently and manage various tasks. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·       Work cross-functionally with measurement, scheduling, business development, contract administration and other related departments in completing the monthly close process.

·         Perform operational accounting duties including invoicing analysis, volumetric reconciliations, and customer settlements.

·         Assist with segment’s month end closing process including the entry and review of journal entries.

·         Ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner.

·         Provide customer support and service.

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·   Solid time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and function independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

·      Strong attention to detail.

·      Problem solving with ability to recognize issues and deal with them directly

·      Personable, positive and enthusiastic attitude with capability to deal effectively with people.  Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written.

·      Excellent organization skills and work habits

·      Sense of initiative with desire to become truly involved in the business.

·      Flexibility with ability to work in a team setting supporting several people

·       Microsoft office products – proficient in Excel.

·       SAP knowledge is preferred.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  •        The Lead Accountant level requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 8+ years of relevant job related experience.
  •        The Senior Accountant level requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience.
  •        The Accountant level requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
