Analyst - Commercial Analytics
Sunoco LP is a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership operating across 47 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Europe, and Mexico. The Partnership's midstream operations include an extensive network of approximately 9,500 miles of pipeline and over 100 terminals. This critical infrastructure complements the Partnership's fuel distribution operations, which serve approximately 10,000 convenience stores, independent dealers, commercial customers, and distributors.

Summary
The Commercial Analytics team is part of the Unbranded Sales & Pricing organization and is responsible for providing the data and analysis needed to support the rest of the organization and drive continued growth. The position requires an individual with technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and a desire to learn the fuel distribution business.
The role reports to the Manager of Commercial Analytics. This role is an excellent opportunity to learn and develop in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
The analyst will support existing analytical tools and dashboards and develop new solutions that provide insights into existing business processes (e.g., hedge exposure management, sales forecasting, financial transparency, etc.) and support new business growth. This position requires effective use of Sunoco’s core technology programs including: Right Angle, DTN TABs, Excel, scripting languages (i.e., R & Python), and SQL / relational database management system (RBDMS) infrastructure.
The role will work with various internal groups including:
- Senior Leadership on financial reporting and growth initiatives
- Sales Reps to support all functions of the sales process
- Rack Pricing to build and support technical tools
- Supply & Trading to understand cost structure and market dynamics
- Other Analytics groups to align processes & best practices
- Others may include Midstream, Supply Optimization, etc.
- Design new processes and systems to improve efficiency and data accuracy
- Provide backup support & coverage for other Commercial Analysts when they are out of the office
Ad Hoc requests as determined by the Manager of Unbranded Sales Analytics
Essential Requirements:
Experience, Educational & Special Training Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years technical experience desired.
Microsoft Office Suite skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g. R, Python)
Proficiency in SQL, including building and debugging queries
Strong Data Mining skills including Data Cleaning, Data Preparation and Data Visualization
Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills
Predictive modeling skills in machine learning techniques (e.g., linear regression, decision trees, random forests, gradient boosting, neural networks)
Strong eagerness to learn the business while developing technically in data science
Familiarity with scripting languages and SQL required
Good presentation and formal proposal skills
- Handles complex projects with little supervision.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with internal stakeholders to
Strong work ethic and drive
Preferred Skills & Characteristics
Familiarity with Frameworks for code-based business intelligence tools such as R-Shiny, Dash etc.
Familiarity with API Data requests
Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, Qlik etc.
Experience building and debugging Excel Macros
Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Azure DevOps Boards, Source Control (Git) and collaboration
Experience with ETL/ELT and Data Warehousing
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
- The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
- The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
- The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
