Assoc Analyst - Data Analytics
Sunoco LP, a leader in critical energy infrastructure and North America’s largest independent fuel distributor, is seeking a Associate Analyst – Data Analytics to drive strategic insights and lead high-impact analytics initiatives. This role is ideal for a data-driven professional with a passion for solving complex business problems, mentoring junior analysts, and influencing decision-making at the highest levels.
Summary:
As an Associate Analyst – Data Analytics, you will spearhead the development and deployment of advanced analytics solutions, including datasets, dashboards, predictive models, and data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to uncover opportunities for data-driven improvements and translate business requirements into actionable insights. As a Associate Analyst, you will provide mentorship and guidance for junior analysts and interns, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. You will ensure data products are delivered with the highest quality, while promoting best practices in analytics workflows. Additionally, you will present findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership, manage project deployment pipelines from development to production, and stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies to enhance the analytics function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine datasets, reports, dashboards, models that drive strategic decision-making.
- Manage project deployment pipelines, taking code from development environments to production.
- Serve as a thought partner to your teammates, contributing to the team’s strong problem-solving orientation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure your work is understood and supported across the organization.
Essential Requirements: Experience, Educational & Special Training Required
- BS in Business, Finance, Administration, or Marketing.
- 0-3 years industry experience desired.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation languages (e.g. R, Python).
- Experience with data analysis packages for Python (pandas) or R (tidyverse).
- Experience with machine learning packages for Python (scikit-learn) or R (tidymodels).
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Familiarity with code-first data dashboard frameworks (e.g., Streamlit, Shiny).
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- High level of accountability, initiative, and ownership.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Special Characteristics/Job Requirements:
- Research, analyze, and implement gasoline and distillate price changes.
- Provide accurate statistical data and recommend changes in pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
- Provide oversight for actual to budget performance, sales forecasts and identify areas of risk/opportunity.
- Monitor and analyze the competitive environment, staying apprised of all issues relating to pricing and supply.
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
- The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
- The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
- The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant job related experience

- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
