Lead Operator
Sunoco LP is a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership operating across 47 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Europe, and Mexico. The Partnership's midstream operations include an extensive network of approximately 9,500 miles of pipeline and over 100 terminals. This critical infrastructure complements the Partnership's fuel distribution operations, which serve approximately 10,000 convenience stores, independent dealers, commercial customers, and distributors.

Summary
Under the general supervision of the Terminal Supervisor, the Lead Operator is responsible for overseeing advanced terminal operations, ensuring optimal safety, reliability, and compliance with company policies. In addition to operating terminal equipment, the Lead Operator takes on a leadership role by performing advanced administrative tasks, assisting with regulatory compliance, training staff, and filling in for the Terminal Supervisor or Manager as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities
Operate all terminal equipment in connection with receiving, storing, transferring, and loading refined petroleum products.
Gauge storage tanks, take accurate meter readings, and perform advanced inventory control for all products daily.
Ensure safe and efficient loading of petroleum products onto trucks/vessels and receive products from pipelines/trucks/railcars/vessels.
Take product samples as required and perform/log detailed quality control tests.
Lead daily walk-around inspections to identify potential risks, implement corrective actions, and maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
Issue work permits to contractors, ensuring adherence to stringent safety protocols, including pre-job safety meetings, lockout-tag-out procedures, confined space entry, and gas monitoring.
Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, coordinating with the maintenance team to minimize downtime.
Serve as the primary contact for emergency response activities and lead response efforts until relieved by management personnel.
Required Education and Skills
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Additional certifications in terminal operations, safety management, or related technical fields are strongly preferred.
Minimum Requirements
3+ years of advanced experience in terminal operations, fuel distribution, or a related industry.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to supervise, mentor, and direct other terminal employees.
Strong organizational and advanced administrative skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and inventory management systems.
Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, contractors, and customers.
Self-starter with the ability to prioritize complex tasks and work with minimal supervision.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Must be available for call-outs, shift holdovers, and shift reassignments as needed.
Must be capable of working in varying weather conditions and around industrial equipment while adhering to strict safety protocols.
Ability to lift heavy objects, operate advanced hand tools, and perform complex physical tasks as required.
