Role Summary

The Manger of Operations basic responsibility is to oversee and assist with the day-to-day activities of the Marine, Rack, and Pipeline Operations Group. This must be achieved by constant communication with Customer Service, Maintenance, Construction, and HSE Groups so that each department is aware of each other's present and future needs. To accomplish this, a wide variety of skills and responsibilities must be met. The following is a list of the Manger of Operations duties.

 

 

Responsibilities

                     Asist Shift Supervisors with daily operations.

                     Continuous training for operation personnel. This includes all operations, from newly hired operators to supervisors.

                     Insuring SOP, safety procedures, PPE equipment requirements are properly followed.

                     Attend safety meeting, IRT meeting, and daily traffic meeting.

                     Monitor daily operations. Assist in line/pump selections, scheduling docks, monitor load/discharge rates, prevent delays ...

                     Investigate product losses. (tank gauges, marine moves, transfers, truck/rail)

                     Perform Pipeline DOT evaluations for operations employees.

                     Approve Operations payroll.

                     Work with maintenance. Scheduling work, clearing lines/pumps, testing equipment.

                     Working with new construction. Reviewing flow charts, line testing, strapping lines, labeling new lines, clearing lines, tie-ins, performing prestart up punch list, develop SOP's.

                     Training operators on new projects.

                     Performing daily survey of terminal. Create punch list of any area/equipment that needs attention.

                     Conduct performance reviews with Operations employees.

                     Assist with the development of operating and capital project budgets.

                     Assist with operational problems as they arise. This could include giving advice by phone after regular hours or returning to the terminal.

                     Continually assess the safety and efficiency of terminal operations and adjust, as necessary.

                     Assist with other duties or special projects as directed by the Sr. Manger of Operations.

Essential Skill and Experience 

  • 8+ Years of related experience
  • Strong leadership skills

                     Basic understanding of industrial operations

                     Basic mathematical ability

                     Ability to read and comprehend Standard Operating Procedures, MSDS Sheets and other technical documents.

 

 

Work Environment

Environmental working conditions vary, and employee may encounter vibration, noise, odors, and extreme in temperature and wind as well as exposure to varied weather, varied surfaces, sharp edges, varied lighting, and confined and congested areas and occasionally exposure to petroleum-based products such as crude oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, oil, grease and other petroleum products and chemicals.

 

 

Physical Demands

                     Ability to stand, sit, walk, and maintain balance for extensive periods of time.

                     Ability to frequently lift to 401bs from floor to above shoulder and horizontally and carry objects up to 100 ft. Occasionally lift up to 50lbs.

                     Ability to perform repetitive tasks: climb (e.g., ladders, and stairs), stretch, turn, twist, reach; bend, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for an extensive period of time.

                     Ability to use variety of light to heavy tools necessary to conduct plant operations.

                     Ability to operate crane and other equipment necessary for loading and unloading product.

                     Ability to operate all types of company vehicles.

 

 

Education Required

High School Diploma and GED
