Sr Specialist - Corporate Finance and M&A

Summary:
Sunoco is seeking a Senior Specialist to join its Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions team. As a member on the team, the Specialist will apply advanced knowledge of business, financial, and valuation principles to help grow and optimize Sunoco’s business. The Specialist will oversee and perform detailed analysis of mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions as well as strategically important corporate finance projects. This high-profile position works directly with key leaders to source opportunities and execute transactions critical to Sunoco’s growth. The Specialist should enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-visibility role that provides opportunities to interact with various stakeholders internally and externally including executive leadership, key members of the finance and commercial teams, financial and legal advisors, and target company managements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assume an active role in the identification and evaluation of acquisition and growth opportunities
Lead customary due diligence efforts including the evaluation of information from various sources (data rooms, financial statements, contracts, internal resources, etc.) for use in economic modeling and structuring transactions
Perform thorough evaluations of acquisition targets using various methodologies including sum-of-the parts, comparable company, precedent transaction, and discounted cash flow analyses, among others
Assist in the preparation of various transaction documents including due diligence logs, bid materials, board presentations, and approval memos
Assist in the preparation of investor communications and disclosure materials related to mergers and acquisitions
Potentially assist with other corporate finance and capital markets functions
Required Skills
Proven financial modeling and valuation capabilities
Ability to translate technical / financial information into effective strategic messaging
Capital markets acumen with understanding of the functioning of equity and debt capital markets
Ability to apply equity market knowledge to construct communication strategies and narratives for investors that are clear and compelling
Critical thinking with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Executive presence with a clear thought process and ability to communicate, verbally and in written form, when faced with uncertainty to support sound decision making
Ability to logically evaluate and navigate complex, nuanced, and ambiguous situations
Advanced ability to use standard business software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, among others
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or other business discipline
MBA or CFA designation preferred
Minimum of three to five years working in mergers and acquisitions, and/or capital markets or corporate finance-oriented roles
Extensive experience developing financial models for forecasting and valuation – investment banking, corporate or equity research
Experience communicating and presenting to executive level leadership a plus
Working Conditions:
Usually, normal office working conditions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing
Occasional overnight travel may be required
Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
