Specialist - Safety
Summary:
The Safety Specialist applying for this role should develop and promote a strong safety culture. Candidates should be leaders in both action and thought and innovators in the field. The successful candidate will be tasked with pursuing the goal of zero incidents. To achieve this, they must apply logic and foresight to implement tailored safety approaches across the group, requiring knowledge of personnel and locations. This position supports our operations in many areas, including reporting, investigations, audits, and compliance. It also oversees employees' safe practices and ensures they comply with the company's current training and SOPs.
- Outlines and implements training programs about employee safety procedures and accident protection and prevention.
- Responsible for developing and distributing educational materials, inspecting company facilities, and recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations.
- Safety duties may include directing and administering various safety training programs, maintaining records, investigating accidents, preparing claim applications, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
- The Specialist level requires a HS Diploma and 6+ years of relevant job-related experience
- The Senior Specialist requires a HS Diploma and 8+ years of relevant job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related products
- Able to learn and use site specific software
Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
