This position with the Lease Acquisition Marketing Group will be responsible for the exchanging, trading, buying and selling of both domestic and foreign crude oil.  The individual must possess the ability to negotiate spot or term deals, as well as, be responsible for optimizing current and future logistics systems.  This position will also be responsible for pursuing opportunistic transactions in the market place.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Key responsibility is acquiring lease crude oil production from producers by marketing ET’s services, negotiating acceptable purchase terms  and arranging the necessary transportation and/or exchanges to economically move to market

  • Extensive external customer contact personally and by phone 

  • Generate operating income sufficient to achieve the teams annual financial goals

  • Gather, analyze, and communicate market intelligence to the business team with action plan(s) to remain competitive and profitable

  • Perform accurate administrative functions and be able to work effectively with all departments within the organization.

  • Maintain a proactive interface with Pipeline Operations, Business Development, Crude Trucking, Division Order, Accounting, and other internal customers

  • Utilize 3rd party transportation in areas where ETP is not present and structure terms of contracts, which generate sufficient revenues


Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree  or equivalent work experience required.
  • 8+ years experience in a crude oil purchasing role with a proven track record of successfully closing deals.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in consummating successful negotiations

  • Proven analytical skills and proficient computer applications knowledge, including Excel and Word

  • Ability to research and quantify competitor business practices and make appropriate changes to capture market share / increase revenues.

  • Competent in identifying business opportunities, assemble pertinent economics, and present to management for approval.

  • Ability to maintain existing customer base, as well as grow customer base, at competitive market prices.

  • Overnight travel and extensive day travel.
  • Ability to assemble and present marketing data to both internal and external customers.

  • Training will be provided as required.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
