The Cost Analyst is responsible for tracking the financial performance of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) expense, forecasting, headcount analysis, and maintenance projects.  The successful candidate will need the ability to operate in a fast paced, collaborative environment and will work closely with several departments.  This candidate must be proficient in participating in group discussions and the presentation of financial results.

  • Assist Divisions and Department with the preparation of the annual O&M work plans and budgets. This involves reviewing historical cost data focusing on planned usage of manpower, materials, supplies, equipment and other associated costs.
  • Recommends prioritization of activities considering available resources and prepares final budget documentation for management approval.
  • Gathers data related to utilization of resources, completes required reports and documents and compares results with established standards and recommends to supervision any required actions.
  • Assists Division Management in developing budget guidelines and processes to be followed by their Area.
  • Ensures that Division and Department level O&M and, or Capital Budget information is gathered, consolidated, reviewed and reported to Area and Measurement management.
  • Reviews, monitors and analyzes actual results versus O&M and, or Capital budgets
  •  Reviews financial and statistical data to determine reasons for variances to prepare required documentation.
  •  Reviews and analyzes trends and variances to recommend changes in the usage of resources.
  • Review variances from standard administrative practices, identifies potential problems and notifies supervision of significant deviations.
  • Create purchase orders for the purchase of materials in SAP.
  • Work with vendors and managers to establish and maintain correct account and rate information.
  • Audit, code and process invoices per company procedures.
  • Check for discrepancies per contractual agreements and purchase orders.
  • Provide proper coding for invoices, and route for approval in SAP.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice. Some travel and overnight stays required.
  • Position to be filled commensurate with skill set, education and experience.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workforce performing administrative and financial job functions.

Required Skills:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, mathematics, computer science or industrial engineering, or additional equivalent experience.
  •  2 - 5  years of analytical experience, preferably in the gas transmission industry, in any of the following areas: cost or budget analysis; system or procedures analysis; computer operation or programming; or contract administration or analysis.
  •  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  •  Proficient in all Microsoft software.
  •  Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with all levels of organization.
  •  Excellent organizational skills and follow through skills required.
  •  Knowledge in SAP
  •  Knowledge in TM1

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
