SEC Energy is a single-source provider of natural gas compression equipment, parts and services for all segments of the oil & gas industry. From 50 to 8,000 horsepower, gas, electric or dual drive applications.  SEC is capable of designing and fabricating equipment to meet each customer’s specific operating requirements. SEC also provides production, processing, and treating equipment and an expansive network of warehouses that service locations across the United States. SEC capabilities expand beyond tradition manufacturing to further include truck-based service technicians, manufacturer parts, and power generation equipment.

Summary: 
The Application Engineer is primarily responsible for supporting the conceptual engineering and proposal process for gas compression and related equipment. This is a high visibility position that works closely with all groups at SEC including sales, project engineering, project managers, manufacturing, quality and fellow application engineers. The application engineering department advises and supports sales in customer meetings, technical clarifications and technical presentations. The Application Engineer is also responsible for smoothly facilitating order intake to operations and execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential duties for this position are listed below:
•    Evaluate customer requirements for consideration in estimate development
•    Develop and design the optimal solution to each customer’s project or process
•    Develop a thorough understanding of customer technical and commercial specifications
•    Identify critical issues that may impact costs, schedule or design and propose alternative solutions to the customer
•    Develops accurate project cost summaries, estimates labor, exceptions list, and provides a formal proposal 
•    Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
•    Must adhere to company policies and procedures

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
•    Bachelor of Engineering Degree

•    3 - 6 years of experience.
•    Experience with gas compression equipment or related industry
•    Experience with production equipment desired
•    Experience with industry standard production equipment packages 
•    Software Experience
    o    Ariel Compressor Sizing Program
    o    Caterpillar Engine Sizing Program
    o    Waukesha Engine Sizing Program
    o    MS Office Suite Proficiency
    o    Process Simulation Experience a plus

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Knowledge of packaging compressors, layout and design
•    Knowledge of production equipment preferred
•    Excellent writing and organizational skills
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
•    Able to work under pressure in deadline driven and fast paced environment
•    Ability to work independently and hold self-accountable to meet deadlines
•    Capability to multi-task with good organization skills
•    Problem solving and decision making with minimal supervision
•    Takes ownership of assignments and is focused on tasks given
•    Capable to apply ASME, API, NEC and OSHA terms and guidelines on package applications
•    Ability to read, comprehend and comment on technical specifications
•    Read and modify technical P&ID diagrams
•    The ability to lead and mentor others

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
•    Usually, normal office working conditions
•    Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing
•    Occasional overnight travel may be required
•    Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
