The primary responsibility of this position is to source, identify and deliver opportunities to create and/or enhance the profitability of Sunoco LP’s existing midstream business (Transmix, Terminals, and Race Fuels Manufacturing) as well as conduct activities that will grow the business into new geographies and product lines.  Candidate will also be asked to conduct midstream and wholesale business development activities for projects in Texas (South and West) and internationally, primarily in Mexico and Central America.   Duties will include capital projects, customer acquisition and M&A activity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source, analyze, perform due diligence and lead negotiations of business acquisition opportunities
  • Identify, analyze &recommend new business opportunities in order to generate additional revenue and maximize utilization of existing manufacturing, storage, terminal and truck loading/unloading facilities.
  • Identify revenue opportunities for existing assets and generate business plans and/or capital projects to deliver revenue growth
  • Develop capital, revenue and expense projections for capital projects, assess capacity utilization, and perform economic evaluation of projects
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to oversee the implementation of approved projects
  • Function as primary customer contact. Identify and mitigate client issues by managing internal processes and ensuring other parts of the organization, such as Operations, Accounting, Engineering, etc. meet the clients’ expectations. Maintain an open line of communication with our customers. 
  • Conduct market research, complete market forecasts, perform assessment of competition in industry, project modeling and financial analysis of new business development prospects, and prepare and present such opportunities to senior management.
  • Strong leadership and project development qualities are necessary as the Director will be building and leading internal teams, developing and nurturing 3rd-party relationships, and overseeing the development of multiple projects.
  • Excellent communications skills and capable of conducting presentations to executive management and leading executive management planning sessions.


Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • BS degree in Finance/Business/Engineering or other related discipline
  • 12+ years in US petroleum fuels business and/or midstream business development experience
  • Overall understanding of the US Refined Products business including supply, trading, logistics and operations.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling of capital projects and acquisition targets
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven understanding of the fuel dynamics in Mexico and Central America, including regulatory, supply, and customer landscape
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capability
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA and/or other post-graduate education
  • Engineering experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
