As part of its strategic growth plan, Sunoco LP is searching for a Director of International Business Development. In this new role, Director of International Business Development will be responsible for driving entry and growth into new international markets, increasing share of wallet in existing markets and driving new channel partnerships. This role will also partner with corporate teams to develop an encompassing approach to develop new opportunities to leverage domestic best practices and partnerships. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assure growth of Sunoco LP reach into international markets, work with internal team to establish processes for international sales, develop large scale customer base for selling into these markets, add partnerships with other exporters to maximize sales opportunities out of our supply terminals, 
  • Add new and grow with existing customers base by building long term win/win relationships to drive EBITDA achievement across our branded, unbranded, and terminal operations business segments
  • Send forecasts and share opportunistic intel with supply to assure we have the right products in the right places to optimize profitability.  Work with supply when allocations tighten to assure we are maximizing earnings across the organization. 
  • Assure customer issues are resolved quickly by escalating issues to cross functional support teams for resolution.  Assure customers have a smooth transaction every time they buy from Sunoco. 
  • Handle setup and onboarding of new customers, following and improving internal processes to assure a seamless transaction for the customer. 
  • Create new tools/training that drive sales growth across the sales areas of the organization. 


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Sales/Business and comparable experience within those area
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 10-15+ years of experience
  • Bi-Lingual English / Spanish
  • Excellent management skills, negotiating skills, strong interpersonal skills and deal analysis ability.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering large customer accounts and acquisitions.
  • Solid understanding of project planning and change management development.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining equitable business relationships with internal and external customers
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets and appropriate deal structuring
  • Highly developed negotiation, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to understand and interpret legal language and implications to deal structure
  • Must have the ability to define strategy and implement with high level guidance
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to build strong senior leader relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to make tough decisions and be accountable for the results
  • Strong Knowledge of Mexican and central American markets

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • 50-75% normal office working conditions.
  • 25-50% overnight travel will be required
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing setting may be required which could cause exposure to hazardous materials such as combustible, flammable, toxic, carcinogenic and other chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery.
