Summary:

The Director, Race Fuels is responsible for setting and implementing the strategy to drive growth for Sunoco's Race Fuel portfolio and leads NASCAR event activity. As a senior leader, this role will define the go-to-market strategy for the division, including product development, marketing strategy, retail strategy, sales, and event support with full P&L responsibility.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Define the portfolio and product strategy for the business. Assess the market and competitive landscape and develop products and solutions that support volume and EBITDA growth for the business.

·         Evaluate pricing strategies and implement programs to ensure Sunoco is competitive in marketplace.

·         Develop a licensing strategy for the portfolio.

·         Manage a vast distributor network within and outside the US. Partner with distributors to grow Sunoco share of the market. Assess and implement opportunities to grow the distributor base.

·         Develop and manage relationships with NASCAR and NRHA executives and operations team.

·         Management and oversight of a team of NASCAR and NHRA event support personnel continuing the heritage of zero defects. Oversee budget for event support, including transportation and contract labor management. Identify and facilitate optimization opportunities.   

·         Lead team of engineers and product specialists to continually develop and refine product offerings to more effectively compete and win in marketplace.

·         Liaison with plant management on refinement of products and methods to optimize cost structure.

·         Lead sales team ensuring proposals are based on solid financial models. Work with team to identify new markets and verticals to sell in product. Attend industry events and trade shows as necessary.

·         Direct marketing resources to ensure focus on key strategic initiatives and alignment to portfolio direction.

·         Report monthly results to leadership team.

Required Skills / Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, & Abilities:

·         Bachelors Degree required; MBA preferred

·         12+ years of leadership experience required, including strategy, product innovation and development, and customer management

·         At least 7 years' experience managing and leading teams

·         Must be a proactive self-starter with excellent financial and business acumen, P&L management a plus  

·         Experience in marketing, customer segmentation and retail 

·         Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to present to executive management

·         Experience in racing industry a plus

·         Ability to travel 50% of time

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

·         Usually, normal field and office working conditions.

·         Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

·         Overnight travel may be required.

·         Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
