Responsible for installing and maintaining all instrumentation and electrical components safely. Multi-skilled position responsible for performing preventive and general maintenance and technical repairs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work on instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Responsible for installing and maintaining all instrumentation and electrical components safely.
  • Has the ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment. Runs conduit, pulls wire, changes motors, and maintains lighting systems and basic motor controls.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots station and unit control systems and complex equipment, e.g., generators, VFDs, MCC etc.
  • Maintain, modify and troubleshoot Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs.
  • Maintains advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame/fire detectors, vibration and temperature monitors)
  • Read P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings; interprets station and unit electrical diagrams
  • Updates electrical drawings.
  • Installs, troubleshoots and maintains end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls, substation and branch feeders, variable frequency drives, MCC, panel boards, etc.
  • Performs preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment (which includes working near energized circuits over 440 volts).
  • Is familiar with AC voltage (120-480) three phase and single phase plus 24 VDC.
  • Is familiar with medium voltage of 4160 to 138,000 volts AC and electric motors up to 5,000HP
  • Has knowledge of, electrical layout, safety systems and area classifications.
  • May work independently or with various groups to deal with issues that may arise.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Performs clean up associated with tasks.
  • Provides training and technical support as required. Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Assists mechanical and operations where needed.
  • Has ample knowledge of computers and Microsoft office programs.
  • Is able to examine/analyze equipment for defects.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools and electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Must have record of very positive work performance, very good safety record, ability to perform work independently, history of being dependable and reliable, good organizational skills, good customer relations


Required education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prefer 2 year technical degree in instrumentation or 4 year degree and minimum of 5 years experience.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Level B requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Level a requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Driving, walking, standing frequently
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
    Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
