An I&E technician who is multi-skilled to be responsible for preventative maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, testing and installation of all instrumentation required to operate Fractionator process plants. 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of transmitters, valve actuators, positioners, switches and other instrumentation as required for 24/7 Fractionator operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair process heater burner management systems including flame rods, ignitors, fire eyes and regulators.
  • Maintain, modify and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs.
  • Maintains advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame/fire detectors, vibration and temperature monitors)
  • Installs, troubleshoots and maintains end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls and air/fuel controllers.Has knowledge of Instrumentation safety systems and area classifications.
  • May work independently or with various groups to deal with issues that may arise.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, testing and calibrating equipment.
  • Performs clean up associated with tasks.
  • Provides training and technical support as required. Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Rotates on call for operations.
  • Utilizes computers and e-mail for internal and external communication, record keeping, on-line reporting, material and supply ordering, and filing/maintenance of various forms and records.
  • Responds to emergency situations. 
  • Schedules, coordinates, and inspects the work of third party contractors. 
  • Assists work crew or technical personnel and/or performs other tasks as defined by the Operations Manager. 
  • While a member of the work crew, performs work independently with minimum supervision.


Required education:
  • High school diploma or GED

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience 
  • Level B requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Computer and basic office software experience and a strong background in the natural gas industry are desired.
  • Effective written and verbal communication are necessary, as well as interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative, asset management work crew environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with others to support team and company objectives, and willingness to work in all areas required.
Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Driving, walking, and standing frequently
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
  • Must live within 45 minutes of plant location.
