Sunoco LP is a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership operating across 47 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Europe, and Mexico. The Partnership's midstream operations include an extensive network of approximately 9,500 miles of pipeline and over 100 terminals. This critical infrastructure complements the Partnership's fuel distribution operations, which serve approximately 10,000 convenience stores, independent dealers, commercial customers, and distributors.

 This is a twelve (12) week paid internship program beginning May 2025. You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with an expected graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.  

 Summary:

The qualified candidate will work with integrity engineers, project engineers, technical services, and operations with the goal of understanding and mitigating pipeline integrity risk. This includes making recommendations based on analysis findings for repairs, inspection technologies, reassessment intervals and relevant preventive & mitigative (P&M) measures. The candidate is required to have good analytical skills, perform calculations, diagnose problems, and have superior communication and presentation skills.  Additionally, the candidate will facilitate cooperation between different functional groups, be able to identify multiple alternatives for a given problem and facilitate the implementation of solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (dependent on department):

  •  Process and analyze inline inspection (ILI) reports utilizing analysis software.

  •  Assess and/or diagnose pipeline integrity threats.

  • Prepare appropriate repair recommendations.

  • Lead Post ILI Review with management and operations personnel.

  • Participate in Preventive and Mitigative (P&M) measure review(s).

  •  Ensure compliance with regulations and integrity program expectations.

  • Support preparation for state and federal compliance audits.

  • Assist in troubleshooting of day-to-day issues and brainstorm potential solutions.

  • Maintain documentation for ILI assessments including database updates and written summaries of analyses and conclusions.

  • Assist field integrity engineers with dig program execution.

  • Contribute to the development of written policies and procedures related to Sunoco LP’s Integrity Management Program (IMP).

  • Interface and effectively communicate with multiple departments, including management, operations, engineering, and maintenance.

  • May perform other related duties as required.

 

 

   Requirements: Education /Skills

  •  Undergraduate student in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Petroleum Engineering preferred)
  •  Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  •  Self-motivated individual with a high level of initiative.
  •   Position requires the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to shift established priorities in response to changing business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound presentation skills.
  • Proactively initiates, develops, and maintains effective working relationships. Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office

Special Considerations

  • Previous summer work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with pipeline and/or midstream industry
