Lead Analyst – Tax Technology / IT Tax

Summary: This position is responsible to support all tax areas (direct tax, indirect tax, tax controversy and property tax), by leveraging data, automation, and technology to enhance compliance, reporting accuracy, and audit readiness. This role bridges Tax and IT to streamline processes, improve data integrity, and drive efficiencies across multiple tax disciplines. To do well in this role, you need attention to detail, experience in Data Analysis, strong problem-solving skills and great interpersonal skills to allow collaboration amongst different teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support all tax areas (Direct, Indirect, Tax Controversy, and Property Tax) functions by delivering data-driven insights and ensuring accurate, timely tax reporting across multi-jurisdiction operations;
Develop, maintain, and optimize automated workflows, to transform high-volume transactional data into audit-ready outputs;
Extract, manipulate, and validate large datasets to support tax filings, reconciliations, and audit requests;
Partner with Tax and IT teams to enhance system capabilities supporting tax provision, forecasting, and compliance;
Design, develop and deploy robotic process automation (RPA) solutions using UiPath to reduce manual tax processes, improve efficiency, and enhance control frameworks;
Reconcile transaction-level data between source systems, ERP, and tax reporting outputs to identify discrepancies, mitigate risk, and improve data integrity;
Serve as a liaison between Tax and IT, translating business requirements into technical solutions and vice versa;
Ensure alignment of tax technology solutions with broader enterprise systems and digital transformation initiatives;
Architect and implement scalable automation and analytics solutions that support multiple tax functions;
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and advanced analytics;
Establish data governance, validation rules, and control frameworks to ensure consistency and reliability of tax data;
Document processes, controls, and data flows to support internal controls, audit readiness, and knowledge sharing across the organization;
Monitor and troubleshoot data and system issues, collaborating with IT to resolve discrepancies and improve system performance
Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams (AI Development, SAP, RightAngle, DBA, and Infrastructure teams) to support application development, maintenance, and integration efforts
Support external auditors and consultants;
Stay current on emerging tax technology tools, automation capabilities, and industry best practices to continuously enhance tax operations;
Lead and support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Information Systems or related degree;
· CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
· Min 5 years prior experience in Accounting, Tax, or IT with a focus on data analytics and business intelligence tools;
· Advanced experience with tools such as Alteryx, SQL Server Management Studio, SAP, and Microsoft Power BI;
· Experience with data wrangling, transformation, and automation development;
· Must be a quick learner with the ability to adjust to multiple demands and address shifting priorities;
· Ability to analyze current tax and IT processes and recommend scalable improvements;
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets;
· Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams;
· Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business users;
· Experience gathering business requirements, designing solutions, and supporting implementation and testing;
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Tax Software solutions (Like SAP, Avalara, Vertex, and/or OneSource/Sabrix);
Experience with Data Analytics tools (Alteryx, Power BI, etc.);
Experience designing and implementing automation solutions using RPA and AI-enabled tools;
Experience with SQL Server Database, SQL and Stored Procedures.

· Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
- The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
- The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
- The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
