ROLE SUMMARY: The Lead Mechanic for ET Genco is responsible for performing operations, maintenance, diagnostics and field repairs on ET Genco assets, as well as providing excellent customer service, and keeping accurate records. The lead Mechanic will also serve as a leader and resource for the others in the ET Genco team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on generator systems
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic testing, and start-ups
  • Maintaining a parts inventory for the locations
  • Identifies causes of generator problems and/or failures
  • Participate in “On-Call” rotation
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed
  • Effectively communicate with customers and ET Genco team
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Perform energy isolation lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO) 

 

 

Required Education:
  • High school diploma or GED

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years of related experience/training or equivalent combination of both education and experience
  • Must be opened to working overtime, including evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed
  • Previous experience working on industrial generators or gas engines
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Preferred knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems (such as Cat 3500 engines, and Cat control panels)
  • The ability to participate in an on call, rotating schedule (On call 24/7)
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
  • Must have strong self-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a group environment

Working Conditions and Requirements:

  • Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions
  • Work may include confined spaces and may require heavy lifting in excess of 75 lbs with or without assistance
  • Work in and around industrial and construction settings, which may include hazardous products, processes, materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and may require appropriate personal protective equipment (which may include, but may not be limited to, necessary respirators)
  • Work on and around equipment and facilities that require knowledge of and adherence to safe work procedures and practices
  • Subject to callouts to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays
  • Reliable attendance at work
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
