Job Summary:

Serves as lead fuel regulatory and quality resource for the Supply & Trading and Fuel Sales teams.  Works closely with all business personnel to communicate requirements and changes and provides recommendations for how best to comply with changing fuel regulations.  Works to ensure the business has full understanding of all US quality specifications and purchases/sales within those boundaries.  Leads the effort to learn about international fuel regulations and specifications to support Sunoco’s growing international business.

Core Responsibilities:

v  Support internal teams on daily basis with fuel product specifications, fuel waivers, quality concerns, or inquiries.

v  Collaborates with and utilizes 3rd party contractors and consultants to expand internal knowledge base.

v  Monitors the fuel regulatory environment – local, state, and federal interprets, summarizes, and communicates changes and potential impacts to the business.

v  Provides guidance to company staff and management regarding fuel regulatory policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

v  Responsible for creating new and maintaining existing regulatory fuel registrations.

v  Will provide high level support and guidance to internal teams as it relates to the Renewable Fuel Standard.

v  Works with internal teams to ensure regulatory reporting requirements and deadlines are being met through data gathering from internal teams and presenting that information to regulatory consultants or agencies.

v  Responsible for building out a new International Fuel Quality playbook for our fuels business.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·         Bachelor’s degree in business, technical, or related field (preferred); or equivalent work experience.

·         Minimum 8 years’ experience.

·         Prior experience reading and consuming regulations, policies, standards or similar.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate at every level of the organization.

·         Resourceful and well organized, inquisitive and utilizes all available resources to gain knowledge.

·         Ability to establish credibility and be decisive while recognizing and supporting the organization's preferences and priorities.

·         Results-oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations.

·         Ability to work as part of a team and have good decision-making skills.

·         Ability to build collaborative relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Familiarity with EPA regulations.

·         Desire to read, interpret readings, and learn from them on a daily basis.

·         Prior experience in the petroleum industry, specifically the product quality or regulatory environment.

·         Regulatory agency experience or experience representing an organization with regulatory agencies.

 

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
