Summary:
The Safety Manager will be responsible for providing safety leadership and compliance with corporate safety standards by implementing safety directives, improving safety performance, and ensuring safety and environmental policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations. The Safety Manager is subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays. This position will be required to respond to calls before and after regular hours. Incumbent must have proven safe driving record and provide documentation of past traffic violations upon request, as well as maintain a valid driver’s license. Incumbent will be required to take and pass a pre-employment drug test and adhere to all U.S. Department of Transportation drug and alcohol related.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
Facilitate a work environment that supports safety and compliance
Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.
Perform safety/environmental audits and inspect plants, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss accidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities.
Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
Coordinate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy, including reviewing short—and long-term strategic safety planning and development.
Order and maintain facility safety inventory including supplies and equipment.
Work within company policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook and in compliment with the Policy Manual, Safety Manuals, and OSHA Safety rules.
Preparing documents to put out tenders for contractors.
Project management and supervising and coordinating work of contractors for all facilities.
Investigating availability and suitability of options for new premises.
Planning for future development in line with strategic business objectives
Checking that agreed work by employees or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and following up on any deficiencies.
Use performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement.
Responding appropriately to emergencies.
Directly supervises safety representatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements: Experience, Educational & Special Training Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

8+ years industry experience required

Strong commitment to safety, environmental, and regulatory programs and leading by example

Previous supervisory experience preferred

Must have working knowledge of natural gas engines, various compressor packages and Propane compression

Understanding of plant liquids, liquid stabilizer and stabilized product

NGL/Liquid Amine treating

Ethylene Glycol treating system and regeneration

Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer or Thermal Oxidizer

Must be familiar with flare reporting system

Knowledge or awareness of relevant industry regulations, standards, and recommended practices (e.g. API, DOT, RMP, ISA, OSHA, and PHMSA).

Ability to build trust and confidence with management and supervision.

Ability to manage Safety Environment and Facilities to increase efficiency, quality and volume. Able to apply principles and techniques to accomplish goals.

Ability to plan and oversee all processes.

Strategic thinking and leadership skills.

Ability to communicate with employees at all levels.

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
