Summary: 

The Marine Dispatcher is in charge of the scheduling and movement throughout the facility. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: 

  • Assume the responsibilities of the traffic department after hours and on weekend/holidays.
  • Attend daily traffic meeting to report and receive information on ongoing/future operation product movements and maintenance projects.
  • Have the knowledge and skill to work accurately in ATOMS, P.V. site, MIMI, ATOMS Light
  • Designate and call barges/vessels to specific docks along with input from Shift Supervisor and A­ Operator.
  • Assist Supervisor in designating which pipelines to use for each move to obtain optimum use of all pipelines.
  • Figure stop gauges/top offs on shore tanks loading/discharging and compare stop gauges/top offs with operators to insure accuracy.
  • Monitor stop gauges/top offs and communicate with foreman/operators about time the stop gauges/top offs will occur.
  • Inform inspectors, agents, and other interested parties of important information concerning barges, vessels, transfers, pipelines, or any other moves to avoid delays.
  • Maintain time sheets, vessel tender logs, and any other documents of importance.
  • Monitor line stripping, barge/vessel moves, transfers, tank car/tank truck moves, pipeline moves, SAAB alarms to insure proper handling and predict stops, top offs, etc.
  • Constantly monitor and update SAAB alarms/leak detection programs and check settings at start of each shift.
  • Review and check all paperwork/ATOMS completed orders to verify all information is recorded correctly before forwarding to the Customer Service Department.
  • Review steam and varecs checks, mixer checks, and radio checks for accuracy.
  • Assist Shift Supervisor in directing employees.
  • Perform all other duties as needed or required by the Shift Supervisor.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Basic understanding of industrial operations and basic mathematical ability.
  • Have good communication skills and a good working relationship with other HFOTCO employees, customers, inspectors, agents, barge/vessel personnel, and any other personnel conducting business with HFOTCO
  • Ability to read and comprehend Standard Operating Procedures, MSDS sheets and other technical documents.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be available for on-call as scheduled
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oil & gas industry experience.
  • Ability to use a variety of light to heavy tools necessary to conduct plant operations.
  • Ability to operate crane and other equipment necessary for loading and unloading product.
  • Ability to operate all types of company vehicles...

 

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing climate conditions and a plant environment.
  • Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protections, footwear, FRC).
  • Ability to work at elevated heights. Will have to climb stairs and ladders.
