Summary:

The Plant Operator is responsible for maintaining overall operations of the facility while following corporate policies and insuring that safe work and environmental procedures are followed. The Plant Operator is a key component in insuring that the facility is operated safely with maximum efficiency.


Essential duties and responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Operates plant facilities' various equipment/systems, including but not limited to:
  • Cryogenic plant processing, hydrocarbon fractionation units, process controls and measurement, engines and compressors, pumps, pressure relief system, instrument air system, dehydrators, fuel system, treating, emergency shutdown systems, reciprocating compressors, gas fired heaters, process pumps, amine treating systems, inlet gas receivers and NGL storage and transfer facilities.
  • Operates company radio, performs lab tests for quality assurance, diagnoses mechanical problems, makes minor repairs as needed, assists other crafts personnel and other tasks as assigned.
  • Seeks to optimize processing though facility and maintain proper product specifications, responds to alarms and problems within the plant and make the appropriate corrections.
  • Will also perform lockout/tagout procedures and may monitor field compressor status through the use of SCADA.
  • Responsibilities also include SPCC reporting, prevention and reporting of any spills and monitoring environmental compliance.
  • Maintain and adhere to required Company Trainings, Company Policies, and Procedures
  • The selected candidate will be required to pass all PSM-required operator certifications.

Required education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Level B requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to assume & perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Work well with others and also be able to perform work independently.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Make decisions and corrections when problems are detected.
  • Have knowledge of safety rules and practices and a very good safety record.
  • Have proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Good organizational skills, good customer relations skills, and a record of very positive work performance.
  • Proven knowledge of plant safety and operation
  • Read and understand repair manuals, procedures and standards
  • Read and understand Plant P&ID drawings
Preferred Skills:
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Experience working with pressure vessels and equipment

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Driving, walking, standing frequently
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
    Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
