Position Summary

Supports department management by providing management of all the maintenance capital construction projects. Leads the construction PM’s on all aspects of project management from creating a future pipeline of projects to managing the timely and on budget completion of active projects. Leads the management of all non on demand maintenance capital spend and works directly with the Support Services management team on monthly and yearly projections.  Detailed knowledge of company policies and procedures, industry practices, construction standards, welding procedures, and OSHA rules and regulations. Supervises assigned staff.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily activities, roles, and responsibilities of contract engineers, construction managers, and general contractors so projects are completed successfully and objectives are achieved.
  • Responsible for construction activities being compliant with the appropriate standards, procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Effectively manage the bid process, selection of contractors, and the use of service providers to ensure cost effectiveness and compliance with the policies and procedures.
  • Manage productive and cooperative working relationships with other departments so project requirements are met.
  • Good understanding of federal and state codes and regulations for fuel compliance. Supervise team(s) of both contract and full time employees to work on various Sunoco LP related construction projects.
  • Support Operations Division and Maintenance Lead Specialists with the construction portion of the group’s  responsibilities
  • Evaluate and recommend feasibility of existing and new construction projects.                
  • Assure all construction projects and associated equipment is operating properly by identifying, reporting and resolving matters with maintenance, operations and technical personnel.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate projects for budgetary and environmental exposure.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local codes and regulations.
  • Implement and adhere to company policy concerning construction/engineering codes.
  • Construction knowledge of building remodels and site development.
  • Construction knowledge of fuel systems, canopies and signage.
  • Construction knowledge/procedures with new well connects.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Effective use of computers/software
  • Other duties as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years convenience store construction and maintenance with a thorough knowledge of convenience store remodel planning, fuel system upgrades-UST replacements, dispenser replacements, etc.

  • Bachelor's degree in preferred or experience in lieu of degree
  • Strong data analysis and/or process mapping skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong fuel system knowledge related to the c-store industry
  • Strong leadership, problem solving and influencing skills.

  • Proven team management experience
  • Ability to structure, summarize and draw insights from large amounts of data.

  • Vendor management in the pump and tank industry
  • Construction experience on UST removals and installs, dispenser replacements, canopy replacements etc.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel

  • Acute attention to detail.
Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
