Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior In-House Claims Specialist to support complex liability claims within our Corporate Risk and Insurance Group. This role is responsible for managing high-exposure non-litigated and litigated claims. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Liability Claims, this position also works collaboratively with our in-house Legal Team to manage risk.

This position is ideal for a seasoned claims professional looking to leverage their expertise in a corporate environment with greater strategic involvement than a traditional carrier or TPA role in an international claim environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Manage complex, high severity auto, general liability, and trucking claims, including litigated matters.

·         Partner closely with in-house legal counsel on litigation strategy, discovery/document production, settlement authority, and trial preparation.

·         Evaluate coverage issues, liability exposure, and settlement strategy.

·         Oversee third-party administrator and participate in claim reviews.

·         Review TPA reserves and compliance with TPA Account Instructions.

·         Identify claim trends and contribute to risk reduction initiatives.

·         Provide guidance and mentorship to junior claims professionals.

·         Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills.

·         Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments in a face-paced environment.

·         Strategic involvement in corporate risk and litigation environment.

·         Direct collaboration with senior leadership and legal teams.

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

·         5 - 8 years of claims handling experience, including complex and litigated claims preferred.

·         Strong background in auto liability, general liability, and trucking claims.

·         Experience working with retail operations a plus.

·         Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.

·         Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments in a face-paced environment.

 

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

·         Usually, normal office working conditions.

·         Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

·         Occasional overnight travel may be required.

·         Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
