Summary:

The Inventory Specialist position is responsible for management of inventory materials and supplies at the Mont Belvieu Fractionation Warehouses.  This requires working directly with Supply Chain, Maintenance and Operations personnel and vendors.  Evaluates incoming and outgoing materials, validates related material documentation (MTRs, cert, etc.) and builds supporting documentation files.  Primary tasks include maintaining all inventory levels with accuracy per the company requirements while working with the diverse members at the Mont Belvieu Fracs and corporate sites.  Must be able to manage the warehouse in a safe, environmentally sound and reliable manner.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for evaluating requests to add new items to inventory, including adjustments to minimum/maximum levels and reclassification of inventory as required.
  • Responsible for analyzing slow moving data reports on a quarterly basis and adjusting inventory levels as necessary. 
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining catalog of materials to be purchased and stored to support the facility.  Works with vendors to obtain quotes for required materials.
  • Processes requisitions, work orders and shipping orders and issues material to end users utilizing the SAP-MM system.
  • Identifies potential sourcing issues/disruptions and determines appropriate corrective actions.
  • Works with Operations and Procurement to provide suitable replacement materials in emergency situations.
  • Works with Procurement and Logistics to resolve shipping discrepancies and damages as they occur.     
  • Compares identifying information, and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Prepares inventory materials for long term storage and ensures inventory is maintained in a usable condition.
  • Submits inventory forms for processing and generates inventory requisitions into SAP-MM.
  • Reporting of daily receipts for procured materials to the Document Controls group for posting into SAP-MM.
  • Analyzes and reconciles inventory cycle counts, including verification of material certifications on file as required. 
  • Ensures warehouse transactions are being recorded accurately and reported and processed in a timely manner. 
  • Works to facilitate the sale and/or disposal of obsolete/scrap inventory and surplus materials.
  • Coordinating with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure Materials Management Guidelines are adhered to by all involved.
  • Assists with managing daily warehouse operations
  • Assists with heavy manual work, loading and unloading materials form trucks and trailers by hand, hand truck/dolly and/or forklift equipment (small, medium and heavy duty) as needed
  • Participates in on-call schedule to support after-hours call outs

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • 2+ years of related experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Equivalent experience and demonstrated equivalent competency may supplant the bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to multi-task and handle changing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift

Working Conditions: 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

 ·         Usually, normal office working conditions.

·         Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

·         Occasional overnight travel may be required.
