Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Telecom Expense Management Specialist to oversee the management of our telecommunications expenses. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of telecom services, contracts, and billing structures. They will be responsible for optimizing our telecom expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and analyze telecom expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Review telecom contracts, invoices, and service agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize telecom expenses while maintaining service quality
  • Track telecom usage and trends to forecast future expenses and plan accordingly
  • Coordinate with telecom vendors to negotiate contracts and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Identify coding discrepancies to ensure accurate cost center and GL allocations
  • Provide recommendations to management on ways to reduce telecom expenses and improve efficiency
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to telecom expense management

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field or equivalent practical experience and 8+ years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of telecom services, contracts, and billing structures
  • Proficiency in analyzing telecom invoices and identifying discrepancies
  • Background in managing voice and data migrations with a focus on telco products such as POTS, DSL, PRI, T1 and other legacy services
  • Experienced working with providers like Verizon, AT&T, Lumen, Windstream, Granite, and other telecom companies
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Experienced with Telecom Expense Management software and SAP

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Senior IT Specialist level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead IT Specialist level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
  • The Principal IT Specialist level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 10+ years of relevant job related experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in managing telecom expenses, including understanding of telecom billing structures, tariff plans, vendor management, and ensure compliance with SLA's
  • Capacity to troubleshoot telecom billing discrepancies, resolve issues with service providers, and implement solutions to optimize telecom expenses.
  • Meticulousness in reviewing telecom invoices, identifying errors or discrepancies, and ensuring accuracy in cost allocations and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritize workload effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
 
Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
