SUMMARY

The Safety/OE Specialist is to help drive a proactive safety culture by serving as a liaison between field Operations & Division Safety Representatives with the EHS-OE safety leadership. This position supports the reduction of incidents through ensuring consistent application of safety standards, and the promotion of key organizational safety initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, highly engaged professional with the ability to build strong relationships, navigate operational environments, and lead critical safety programs and investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Engagement & Safety Support
  • Collaborate with Operations and Measurement teams (including Division Safety Representatives) to identify trends and implement proactive measures to reduce injuries and illnesses.
  • Engage with Operations Leadership to evaluate area-specific risks and to provide risk mitigation recommendations.
  • Attend and present at local safety meetings, Safety Roundtables, and leadership briefings as needed and/or when requested.

Program Leadership & Initiatives

  • Provide regional support and promote key Safety initiatives such as:
  • Safety Leadership Workshops
  • Hazard Awareness Campaigns
  • Safety Summit
  • Safety Olympics
  • Promote and support company-wide safety values and campaigns (e.g., We Believe, LifeSavers, Excellence Pyramid, Every Step, Every Day, Park with a Purpose).

System & Tools Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for OE/Safety inquiries, ensuring effective use of tools such as:
  • Job Plans
  • Management of Change (MOC)
  • Intelex/IMS and incident recordkeeping
  • Support and troubleshoot safety platforms: WorkCare, GeoTab, PowerBI, Element, SafetyCulture, MSDS Online, Chemtrec, OpsHub, Engagement App, etc.

Incident Management & Improvement

  • Lead or support incident investigations when requested by Operations or OE(Levels 2 and 3).
  • Assist Operations with the writing of “Lessons Learned” and “Safety Alerts”.
  • Support integration of newly acquired assets to ensure alignment with safety and OE standards.

Training, Auditing & Communication

  • Communicate routinely/frequently with safety representatives and Operations Leadership to align on safety goals, campaigns, and procedural updates.
  • Support EHS audits when requested.
  • Work with the Division Safety Reps to support their needs in the development of monthly safety meeting materials.
  • Support Division Safety Reps in conducting field-level trainings as requested/needed.

Strategic Safety Alignment

  • Monitor regional and divisional safety performance and collaborate with Division Safety Specialists and Reps to bring trends to the Division leadership.
  • Serve as a conduit for Operations regarding procedural, process, and standard questions or requested changes at the organizational level.

REQUIREMENTS: eDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

tO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL DUTY SATISFACTORILY.  THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION ARE LISTED BELOW:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in safety, compliance, construction, or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and editing technical documents and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.).
  • Proficiency with document control systems and writing tools (e.g., MS Word, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Visio).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneous
