Energy Transfer is a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. In total, the Company owns and operates approximately 86,000 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.


Responsible for the production Mechanical/Piping (P&ID, 2D/3D Piping) Civil/Structural, or Electrical/I&C construction drawings and as-built deliverables for pump and meter station, pipeline and PSM facility projects. Specific duties include drawing generation from field sketches provided by project engineering or field operations, and working with third party engineering and design firms related to project drawings. May also produce preliminary drawings for bid packages and as-builts from red-lined construction drawings provided by engineering or construction team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

  • Must be proficient at reading drawings in all disciplines.  
  • Ability to create construction and as-built packages that include plot plans, piping plans, P&IDs, piping isometrics, civil layouts, structural details, electrical wiring diagrams etc.
  • Review project drawing specifications.
  • Review design instructions, plot plan, flow diagrams, and supplier information.
  • Create and revise P&IDs or other related drawings
  • Incorporate redlines to create as-built drawings.
  • Create and revise drawings in AutoCad and CadWorx.
  • Develop Bills of Material relative to design documentation.
  • Ability to check drawings dimensionally
  • Drawing and document file management for records transferred to engineering contractors though the document management process.


Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical training or Associates Degree in related field preferred.
  • 5-8 years designing and drafting mechanical, civil / structural or electrical/I&C.
  • Working knowledge of DOT 192 / 195 pipeline compression / pump facilities
  • Knowledge of NGL processing facilities and process equipment.
  • Proficient using AutoCad 2018, CadWorx; Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of drawing management tools
  • Must have the ability to develop design CAD files or drawings in conformance with project specifications, scope of work, design parameters, codes, and industry practices.
  • Read and understand system P&IDs related to pipeline and facility layouts and process equipment.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards for drafting techniques, including mechanical, elecrtrical, instrumentation and piping.
  • Multiple disciplined experience in design and drafting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of design in control wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and control panel layout drawings. 3D AutoCad and/or database experience is a plus.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work under supervision or independent to meet required deadlines.
  • Support department in meeting defined goals and initiatives.
  • Self-starter with good organizational and planning skills.
  • Must be able to perform task with minimal guidance or supervision.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Overnight travel will be required.
  • Position is based in industrial settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
