The Sr Mechanical Engineer will provide mechanical engineering expertise and support for both rotating and fixed equipment to ensure the reliable operation for the Terminal and LPG Plant and perform project engineering functions as required for maintenance and improvement projects.



  • Provide mechanical engineering support to maintenance and operations
  • Provide mechanical engineering expertise in the troubleshooting and resolution of equipment failures, the selection or evaluation of plant equipment, and the operation of rotating equipment.
  • Identify equipment bad actors by working closely with maintenance and operations, monitoring mean time between failures, and reviewing work order history and cost. Perform root cause analysis to identify solutions to eliminate chronic equipment problems.
  • Work with vibration analyst reviewing data and recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Evaluate, recommend, design, and implement modifications to equipment, procedures, and processes to improve the reliability or reduce the cost of the equipment and assets
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates preventive maintenance programs
  • Recommends and establishes spare parts for new and existing equipment.
  • Prepares equipment specifications and purchase requests.
  • Maintains equipment repair records and logs – evaluates repair costs and trends.
  • Assists in developing shutdown budget and scope.
  • Assists in developing site annual budget for Operation & Maintenance and capital projects.
  • Oversees major equipment repairs and overhauls.
  • Evaluates / audits repair shops to ensure quality.
  • Provide project engineering and management for small capital projects. This includes estimating and submitting project for approval and management of the project through start-up and project closure.
  • Control project costs by providing budget projections and maintaining a constant awareness of projects status in relation to approve budget.
  • Instructs maintenance and operations personnel on new equipment and procedures as required.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and operating permits.
  • Actively participates in plant’s Health, Environmental, Safety and Security (HESS) programs to assure a safe and environmentally sound workplace.
  • Complete any additional responsibilities assigned by Management.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 6 - 10 years of industry experience in maintenance or related field.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with pumps, centrifugal compressors, cooling towers, gear boxes, refrigeration equipment, pumps and mechanical seals.

  • Familiar with applicable codes and standards – ASME, API, PSM Mechanical Integrity, etc.

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.

  • Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.

Preferred Skils:

  • Experience with vibration and lube oil analysis

  • Familiar with SAP
