Job Description:

  • Assist and monitor outside counsel performance and cost on litigation matters

  • Manage legal matter management system including updating litigation/disputes and transactional matters, tracking cost and budget information, and entering new matters

  • Acknowledge and track service of process for all entities and ensure proper assignment internally and to outside law firms

  • Assist with claims handling and claims processing

  • Assist with every aspect of reviewing subrogation claims and maximizing recoveries

  • Communicate with various internal and outside parties to determine the nature of the loss

  • Interact and communicate with attorneys, experts, outside parties and the claims department on matters relating to the loss

     

  • Liaise with IT regarding the preservation and collection of information to be held for anticipated litigation

  • Manage discovery/document requests by outside counsel and collect and provide documents

  • Review internal documents before sending them to outside counsel

  • Manage hold process for litigation including the initiating and releasing holds after conclusion of matters

  • Proofread and edit documents

  • Assist attorneys in legal department with special litigation and transactional projects

  • Assist with vendor selection, performance, and cost on legal matters

Required Skills:

  • 5 + years of paralegal experience in litigation section at a leading law firm or a publicly traded company

  • Paralegal Certification required, degree preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

  • Access, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, etc., and with various legal related sites

  • Experience with Legal Tracker/formerly Serengeti is a plus

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills

  • The candidate should be a highly self-motivated individual, possess high initiative and have the ability to work independently

  • Ability to collaborate and interact with all levels of personnel and build strong relationships with business colleague

  • Flexibility to work overtime as required
