Summary:
The incumbent will work to develop consistency across the company in the development and application of company safety procedures and policies and provide customer service to operations personnel. Assist with the management of company safety programs and with the development of company standard operating procedures (SOP). Acts as a subject matter expert in his / her areas of responsibility. The incumbent will be required to travel to remote locations to assist field personnel with safety related issues, conduct safety audits or training. Travel requirements may be up to 50% of the time depending on business needs. The incumbent may be assigned specific areas of responsibility but will work in all areas of safety as required by the needs of the division. This position performs other duties as required / assigned to support the department goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership and expertise in developing and implementing company safety programs.
  • Training and motivation of company personnel to achieve superior safety performance.
  • Performing equipment, facility, and work-in-progress inspections- Injury and accident investigations including identifying, developing, and implementing Preventative measures.
  • Conducting, assisting, and/or coordinating in-house inspections, third party safety audits, and/or safety and environmental audits for the Division  locations.
  • Providing safety resource support to the Company, Divisions, Areas and Locations.
  • Work with Managers and Employees to build consistency in the understanding and application of company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Requirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in Safety or related field.
  • Valid driver’s license with demonstrated safe driving record.
  • Specific knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANS/ASTM and other industry related standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent project & time management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated customer focused solution provider.
  • Effective communications skills and the ability to communicate with multiple levels of the company.
  • High level of technical and procedure writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years Oil / Gas or Petrochemical safety experience in progressive positions or equivalent operational experience.
  • CSP, ASP or other certification a plus.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
