Summary:
The Sr. Specialist - Inventory position applies materials expertise to assist with management of inventory materials at various warehouse locations and pipe yards across multiple states, and acts as a departmental subject matter expert on gas pipeline and compression related materials to support Supply Chain. The position is responsible for maintaining critical spare parts inventory levels. This requires dealing directly with Operations, Reliability and Procurement personnel and vendors to coordinate repairs to critical spare parts and requisitioning new parts when repairing a part is not an option. The position evaluates and inspects incoming and outgoing materials, validates related material documentation (MTRs, certifications, etc.) and builds supporting documentation files, and provides shipping, receiving and expediting support to Materials Management, Procurement and Engineering staff as needed. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspection of inventory and incoming/outgoing project materials to ensure quality, condition and provide recommendation for disposition of non-conforming materials as needed
- Develop, review and improve existing Materials Management processes and procedures
- Coordinating with Engineering, Operations and Procurement to ensure Materials Management Guidelines are adhered to by all involved
- Working with Operations and Procurement to ensure inventory levels are set appropriately to accommodate upcoming projects and emergency situations
- Works with Operations and Procurement to provide suitable replacement materials in emergency situations
- Performing annual inventory cycle counts at warehouses and pipe yards
- Submitting material transfers for processing
- Generating inventory requisitions into SAP-MM
- Backup support for warehouses as needed
o Assists with managing daily warehouse operations
o Works with Procurement and Logistics to resolve shipping discrepancies and damages as they occur
o Works with Procurement and Logistics on scheduling pick up and deliveries
o Provides Load Out assistance to projects
o Reporting daily receipts of procured materials to the Document Controls group for
o Providing heavy manual work, loading and unloading materials from trucks and trailers by hand, hand truck/dolly and/or forklift equipment (small, medium and heavy duty) as needed
o On-call support for after-hours call outs
- Gathers and provides information needed for budget preparations on an annual basis
- Providing SAP requisitioning training and support as needed
- Special projects and reporting as needed.
- Following all Safety Procedures and working in a safe manner at all times
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Extensive knowledge of gas pipeline and/or compression related materials
- 5-8 years of related experience, preferred
- Previous inventory, warehousing or procurement experience
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to multi-task and handle changing priorities and deadlines
- Excellent organizational and communications skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook and SAP-MM
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
- The Specialist level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
- The Senior Specialist level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience

- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
