The Sr. Specialist will be tasked with supporting Sunoco’s Integration and Optimization office as a key contributor.  This team is responsible for supporting executive leadership by planning, delivering and implementing high-priority, strategic projects that drive Sunoco’s businesses forward.  The individual will be responsible for leading or contributing significantly to multiple concurrent projects.  Generally, projects are complex and cross-functional in nature; involving diverse internal stakeholder groups, technology systems, and business processes.  Projects may include M&A business integration activities and business transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities for this Position:

  • Conduct complex business analyses and establish analytical frameworks to deliver business insights
  • Work as an advisor or Project Manager with functional leaders to develop business project plans or integration plans, and coordinate / monitor work across all functional areas of the business
  • Conduct interviews with stakeholders to understand and document business processes and information systems data flows
  • Prepare high-quality presentation material and conduct business meetings to introduce new projects or drive execution of existing work
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings, document key decisions, risks and issues; diligently communicate critical decisions across necessary teams, as well as general status updates
  • Utilize Program Management Office (PMO) and Integration Management Office (IMO) tools as necessary to convey current project status using various dashboard views
  • Monitor and control progress to ensure leads are accurately capturing tasks in PMO/IMO tools and meeting the collective timeline

Essential Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required, 2-year MBA degree preferred
  • Strong leadership ability, demonstrated advanced analytical, presentation, project management and financial analysis skills
  • Proven success in driving projects, delivering results, and creating stakeholder buy-in
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to adapt to different audiences and communicate and present to senior-level executives
  • 5-8 years’ experience in Management Consulting and/or Business Performance Improvement Consulting, or related fields
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio a plus)

Preferred Skills:


  • Project Management certifications a plus (PMI/PMP/PMBOK)
  • Ability to quickly climb the learning curve in new, complex subject areas
  • Ability to manage discrete threads of work independently, while delivering high-quality work products
  • Experience in petro/c-store, dealer wholesale, delivered wholesale or terminal operation business
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and putting structure around problems or tasks with minimal guidance
  • Background working across multiple business functions and diverse stakeholder groups. (Accounting, Commercial business units, Sales teams, IT teams)
  • Knowledge of business / commercial contracts and ability to interpret legal documents a plus

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
