Summary: 
This position will be responsible for performing various fixed asset accounting responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below

Oversee all areas of fixed assets accounting including:

  • Reporting.
  • Adherence to policies and procedures as defined by SOX.
  • Accuracy of very detailed fixed asset records including GAAP and FERC.
  • Strong emphasis on reporting and analysis to determine proper classifications and adherence to capitalization policies.
  • Support quarterly financial and SOX audits.
  • Participate in various meetings with senior management to ensure accurate reporting of capital expenditures.
  • Work closely with income tax and property tax groups to minimize tax exposure and ensure accuracy of payments and reporting.
  • Develop SAP enhancements to AFE and fixed assets functionality and reporting.
  • Oversee the AFE and fixed assets migration of new companies and acquired assets to PowerPlan.
  • Work closely with the regulatory department for rate cases and other FERC reporting items.
  • Participate in and oversee special projects as required.

Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA Certification preferred
  • 7+ years experience in fixed assets accounting
  • 5+ years management experience
  • 2+ years Natural gas industry experience
  • Flexibility with ability to work and lead in a team setting
  • Strong customer relations skills first within the fixed assets department, as well as with management, external departments, and consultants.
  • Fixed asset accounting experience
  • FERC regulatory accounting experience.
  • Motivated self-starter.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details.
  • Personable, positive and enthusiastic attitude with capability to deal effectively with people.
  • Solid time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and function independently and efficiently in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent organization skills and work habits
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • SAP experience
  • PowerPlan experience
  • Microsoft Word

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions. 
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing. 
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
