Summary:

The Survey Technician will function as part of a multi-discipline internal engineering, design, and survey team reporting to the Manager of Land Survey . The Survey Technician should have a thorough understanding of land surveying requirements, drafting standards, and general survey knowledge.

Job Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.

·         Prepare survey descriptions and exhibits in accordance with company standards

·         Act as part of the internal surveying team to execute project deliverables for Project Managers consistent with Energy Transfer standards, specifications, and expectations.  Ability to execute projects internally, working directly with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, Operations, and internal staff.

·         Assist with verifying the accuracy of field survey data

·         Evaluate, recommend, design, and implement modifications to applicable procedures and processes to increase efficiency on survey deliverables.

Capabilities:

·         Working knowledge and experience of survey standards and deliverables.

·         Working knowledge and experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and Carlson Survey.

·         Working knowledge and experience in pipeline and facility surveys

Minimum Requirements:

·         Associate degree or higher in surveying technology/geomatics, civil engineering, or related field

·         Minimum 0-2 years of related experience

·         Title conferred will be based on candidates’ years of relevant experience.

·         Direct experience working in the survey industry is highly preferred.

·         Possess strong communication skills to support the building of relationships with project managers, sponsors and other internal project stakeholders

·         Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision

·         Strong problem-solving skills, including logical thought processes, with ability to resolve a complexity of issues.  Has ability to be proactive rather than reactive.

·         Fast paced environment – must be able to support multiple projects concurrently

·         Good comfort level presenting information to all levels of management

·         Ability to read, comprehend and comment on technical specifications

·         Proficient with applicable technical software including Autodesk Civil 3D and Carlson Survey

·         Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Working Conditions:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

·         Normal office working conditions.

·         Occasional overnight travel may be required.

·         Occasional visits to project sites, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery.  Must be able to work outdoors, wear personal protective equipment, and walk on uneven surfaces.
