About the Role

We are seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Project Construction Director to spearhead the construction of large-scale oil and gas projects. This role focuses on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), petrochemical facilities and other major hydrocarbon investments, demanding a deep understanding of mega project execution. You will assist in construction planning and contracting prior to project final investment decisions (FID) working with potential EPC contractors. Post FID you will lead a high-performing team, ensuring exceptional project delivery across all aspects – safety, quality, schedule, and budget. Acting on behalf of the owner you will oversee EPC contractor construction performance and compliance to the EPC contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the successful execution of multi-billion dollar oil and gas construction projects, specifically within LNG and petrochemicals.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project management plans tailored to the unique requirements of large-scale LNG and petrochemical facilities.
  • Manage all facets of construction, from pre-qualification and selection of highly specialized contractors to complex material procurement and stringent quality control processes.
  • Proactively manage project budgets and schedules, implementing strategies to mitigate cost overruns and delays.
  • Foster a world-class safety culture, ensuring unwavering adherence to all safety regulations and protocols specific to LNG and petrochemical construction.
  • Lead and mentor a team of construction professionals with expertise in LNG and petrochemicals, providing coaching and fostering their development.
  • Manage extensive project documentation and ensure clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders, including clients, international contractors, and internal teams.
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to optimize project delivery efficiency for mega-projects (large-scale projects in German).

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in construction management, with experience working on billion-dollar oil and gas projects (LNG & petrochemicals preferred).
  • Proven track record of exceeding expectations in delivering complex, large-scale construction projects on time and within budget.
  • In-depth understanding of LNG and petrochemical facility construction practices, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Understanding of various construction strategies including multi-yard modularization, direct hire and subcontracted strategies.
  • Expertise in managing international contractors and navigating the complexities of global supply chains.
  • Exceptional project management skills with a focus on large-scale projects, including planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and constructability reviews.
  • Superior communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate a diverse, global team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
