Summary:

This Associate Accountant/Accountant position will work in the NGL Accounting group and will be exposed to various aspects of commodity accounting including month-end close, quarter-end close, quarterly requests related to corporate reporting, report creations, audit requests, and other projects as they arise.

A successful candidate must have a solid understanding of accounting. Qualified candidates must be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic and work with minimal supervision. Attention to detail is very important. 

Responsibilities:

·         Monthly reconciliation of transactions in Revenue system (Right Angle) and General Ledger (SAP)

·         Monthly preparation of necessary journal entries to reconcile revenue system and general ledger

·         Monthly collaboration with Commercial Systems Support team to close the most recent Right Angle accounting period

·      Monthly preparation of Flash to Actual detail files for most business units that utilize the Right Angle system

·      Monthly review of internal Shared Service cost centers (Rail Mgmt and Transportation Mgmt) for expenses not charged through to 3rd parties or internal Marketing cost centers

·      Monthly preparation of Balance Sheet account reconciliations

·      Quarterly preparation of reports for corporate reporting

·      Assist with compiling data for external and internal audits

·      Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships and communication lines with other finance, operations, and corporate departments they support

·      Maintain and identify opportunities to enhance internal controls and support regulatory compliance and business planning by performing analysis

·      Perform other ad-hoc projects as needed

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

       Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

o    The Associate Accountant level requires a bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of relevant job-related experience

o    The accountant level requires a bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of relevant job-related experience

·         Month-end close experience is preferred

·         Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and PC skills

·         Proficient using computer-based accounting system 

·         Must have good written, verbal, and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels.

  • The Associate Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 0-2 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
 
Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
