Co-Op - Terminal Engineering
Job Description
Sunoco is seeking a Drexel University Engineering Co‑Op to support our Capital Projects Engineering Team in the midstream oil & gas sector. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working within an operational oil and gas environment and applying engineering knowledge at various points in the project life cycle.
The Engineering Co‑Op will work closely with engineering professionals and operations personnel. The type of projects ranges from tank farms, pipelines, pumps and other midstream assets.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists with project design, construction and commissioning activities for midstream oil and gas projects.
· Review and approve engineering drawings from third party vendors and contractors.
· Provide budgetary cost estimates and prepare/submit documentation for capital funding of new projects.
- Performs cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects.
- Assists with materials procurement for projects.
· Engage with contractors and review submittals.
· Provide technical support for other Sunoco projects teams during facility construction and commissioning activities.
- Follows all safety rules and guidelines as established by the company.
Learning Objectives / Skills Gained
Upon completion of the Co-Op, students will gain hands-on exposure to:
· Project life cycle from preliminary design, bid, construction, commissioning and project closeout.
· Professional collaboration within an experienced engineering team supporting active operations
· Knowledge and skills in the oil and gas industry.
Required Qualifications
· Enrollment in Drexel University’s Co‑Op Program
· Majoring in Engineering or Construction Management.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings and data.
· Effective verbal communication skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
· Interest in Project Engineering in the oil and gas sector.
