Energy Transfer LP (NYSE: ET) owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States, with a strategic footprint in all of the major domestic production basins. ET is a publicly traded limited partnership with core operations that include complementary natural gas midstream, intrastate and interstate transportation and storage assets; crude oil, natural gas liquids (NGL) and refined product transportation and terminalling assets; NGL fractionation; and various acquisition and marketing assets. ET also owns Lake Charles LNG Company.
 
Primary Responsibilities
 The scope of the Pipeline Controller’s duties begins with the initial custody transfer and ends when the product/crude is safely and efficiently delivered via pipeline to the Shipper's final destination.
 
  • Directs, controls and monitors the delivery and change of product at remote locations utilizing computer controlled field equipment.
  • Initiates pump and delivery schedule changes, monitors tank inventories, meter counts, line pressures and temperatures.
  • Responsible for identifying operational problems and to dispatch field personnel to problem areas over a 2,650 mile pipeline system.
  • Utilizes continuous discretion to initiate changes of pump and delivery schedules to maintain overall delivery schedule, product quality, safe operating conditions and a cost-efficient operation.
  • Responsible for monitoring tank inventories and for the appropriate handling of shippers’ products both into and out of attended and unattended storage facilities.
 


Required Education: 

  •  High school diploma or equivalent.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level: 

  • Level C requires a minimum of 0-2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience. 
  • Level B requires a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
  • Level A requires a minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a group environment.
  • Effective PC skills, proficient in Excel, Word.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner. 
  • Able to deal with high stress and tight deadlines. 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Associate’s degree, preferably in a technical discipline.
  • Familiarity with pipeline systems, compressor stations, or gas supply operations.

Working conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 

1. Usually, normal office working conditions. 

2. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.   

3. Position requires working a 12-hour, rotating shift which includes holidays, weekends and evening/midnight shifts with occasional overtime on short notice.
